Tennis is one of the cleanest sports to read in numbers: no draws, a clear scoring ladder from point to game to set to match, and prices that update after every point. This independent guide does not operate KX8 and shows no live odds. It walks through the usual tennis markets, shows a worked probability sum and points out the settlement rules to check on the KX8 sportsbook page before you stake.
Match winner and the two-way sum
With two outcomes, the implied probabilities should add to a little over 100%. Odds of 1.55 and 2.45 imply 64.5% and 40.8%, a total of 105.3%. The extra 5.3 points is the margin. If you think the favorite wins about two matches in three, the price on offer gives no edge, and the right move might be to pass.
Sets, games and totals
Beyond the winner, tennis menus usually offer several finer-grained markets. Each one is a separate question.
- Set betting: the exact score, such as 2-0 or 2-1.
- Game handicap: one player starts with a games head start.
- Total games: over or under a line across the match.
- Set winner: who takes a specific set.
Tie-breaks
A tie-break decides a set that reaches six games each in most formats. Some tournaments use a long final-set tie-break instead of playing on. The market for whether a tie-break occurs is covered on the tie-break markets page, including how rules vary by event.
Retirements, walkovers and surface
If a player retires mid-match, many books settle bets on the match winner as void unless a minimum amount of play occurred. Rules differ, so read the sportsbook text rather than assume. Surface matters too: clay, grass and hard courts change how long points last, which feeds into totals lines.
Tennis in play
Because points are discrete, in-play prices move in small steps, then jump after a break of serve. Live betting explains how to keep stakes calm. For the general mechanics of odds, see betting odds explained.
