Baccarat looks formal, but a round is just a comparison of two hands. You pick which one will win, or whether they will tie, and the cards follow fixed drawing rules. That makes it a game of one decision per round, which is easy to learn and easy to overspend on, since rounds are quick. This guide covers the rules, the bets and a stake plan. KX8 hosts any tables; we are an independent guide.
Card values and the goal
Aces count one, cards two to nine count face value, and tens and picture cards count zero. A hand total uses only the last digit, so a seven and a eight make fifteen, which counts five. The hand nearest nine wins.
The dealer follows a printed drawing rule to decide whether each hand takes a third card. You never choose to draw, so there is no skill in the hand play itself.
The three main bets
Player and banker are bets on which hand finishes closer to nine. A tie bet wins if both hands match, and pays a larger multiple because ties are rarer. Many tables charge a commission on winning banker bets. Check the rules panel of your table for the exact commission and payout.
| Bet | Wins when | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Player | Player hand is closer to nine | Check the payout in the table rules |
| Banker | Banker hand is closer to nine | Often carries a commission; check the rules |
| Tie | Both hands equal | Larger payout, much rarer |
Side bets
Some tables add pair bets or bonus bets on specific outcomes. They pay more and hit less often. Treat them like extra lottery tickets: the odds are worse than on the main bets, so keep them small or skip them.
Stake math for fast rounds
If a round takes about 45 seconds, you see about 80 rounds an hour. At ৳100 a round that is ৳8,000 staked, and a 5 percent average cost on stake would be ৳400 (an illustration, not a KX8 figure). Lowering the bet to ৳20 cuts that to ৳80 on the same assumptions. Choose the bet the budget can carry across the whole hour.
See the live casino hub for the pace of other tables, and compare with roulette.
