Roulette has a simple structure: a wheel, a ball and a layout of bets. What changes the math is the wheel type and how many numbers you cover. This page lays out the bets, shows the arithmetic behind them and suggests a way to stake sensibly. KX8 would host any live tables; we are independent and describe the game generally. The wheel
A single-zero wheel has numbers 1 to 36 plus one zero, 37 pockets in total. A double-zero wheel adds a second zero, for 38. The extra pocket makes the same bets slightly worse for the player. When you open a live table, the name or rules panel normally states which wheel is in use.
Inside and outside bets
Inside bets cover specific numbers or small groups. Outside bets cover large groups. A straight-up bet on one number typically pays 35 to 1; an outside bet on red or black typically pays 1 to 1; dozens and columns typically pay 2 to 1. Confirm payouts in the table rules.

A quick probability sum
On a single-zero wheel, one number has a 1 in 37 chance, about 2.7 percent. Red covers 18 of 37 pockets, about 48.6 percent, because zero is neither color. On a double-zero wheel, red is 18 of 38, about 47.4 percent. These are simple counts, not predictions for the next spin.
No betting pattern changes those counts. Doubling after a loss, for example, only raises the stake needed to chase the same result, and tables have maximum bets that can stop it.
Staking in practice
